Beat the Heat Maryland Indoor 5K at Arundel Mills Mall
This event is an indoor running event held inside Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover, Maryland on August 9, 2026. The main course consists of four laps around the mall and is approximately 5.1 kilometers when following the far-left side of the course. A shorter family fun run/walk covers roughly 1.1 miles with one full lap and one mini lap.
All finishers receive a medal and a shirt, though shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants. The event enforces a cupless policy; participants must bring their own sealed container with a lid if they plan to carry water. Dozens of water fountains are available inside the mall.
The course includes a few tight sections and two areas with a small ramp per lap; a three-step staircase is available in those sections as an alternative. Strollers are permitted only in the Fun Run or Walk and must start at the back. Children entered in the 5K should be able to maintain a steady jogging pace and follow basic race etiquette, including staying to the right-hand side of the course.
Post-race activities include fitness demonstrations, recovery stretches, and training tips. Packet pick-up for bibs, swag, and shirts is scheduled for Saturday, August 8 at Under Armour. The event has a firm participant limit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
