Beat the Heat Maryland Indoor 5K
This event takes place indoors at Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover, Maryland on August 9, 2026. The program includes an indoor 5K run, a shorter family run or walk, and a separate elite 5K option for faster competitors.
Distances offered:
- 5.1K four laps around the mall, approximately 5.1 kilometers
- 1 mile family fun run/walk using the outside mall ring, approximately one mile
- 5K elite field for runners targeting roughly sub-24-minute finishes
The course is four laps around the mall and is about 0.1 kilometer longer than an exact 5K when running the far-left side of the course. There are a few tight sections and two small ramps per lap; runners may use a three-step staircase in those sections if preferred. Strollers are permitted only in the Fun Run/Walk and must start at the back. Children entered in the 5K should be able to maintain a steady jogging pace and follow basic race etiquette.
This is a cupless race: no cups will be provided. Dozens of water fountains are available; participants must use sealed, closable containers for fluids. All finishers receive a medal and a shirt, though shirts are not guaranteed for entries after August 1. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, at Under Armour.
