Beat the Heat Maryland Indoor 5K at Arundel Mills Mall
This event is an indoor running program held inside Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover, Maryland. It offers multiple options for participants, including a full indoor 5K that uses four laps of the mall and a shorter family fun run that follows the outside ring for approximately one mile.
Distances:
- 5.1K indoor course, four laps around the mall
- 1 mile Family Fun Run on the outside ring
- Elite 5K option for faster runners on an open course
The course includes some tight sections and two small ramps per lap, with options to use a three step staircase in those areas. Strollers are permitted only in the Family Fun Run and must start at the back of the field. Children in the 5K are expected to maintain a steady jogging pace and stay to the right-hand side of the course.
Organizers operate a cupless policy so cups of water will not be provided. Dozens of water fountains are available and participants may bring sealed containers with lids. Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before at Under Armour. Finishers are planned to receive a medal and a shirt, although shirts may not be guaranteed for registrations after August 1.
