Beat the Heat Maryland Indoor 5K and Family Fun Run
This event is an indoor running event held inside Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover, Maryland. The schedule is timed with Maryland tax-free week and back-to-school shopping, and the event takes place before the mall opens. The 5K course consists of four laps around the mall and measures approximately 5.1 km.
Distances:
- 5K - four laps around the mall, approximately 5.1 km.
- Fun Run/Walk - approximately 1.1 miles, one full lap plus a mini-lap.
All finishers receive a medal. Shirts and other swag are distributed before the race, but shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants. The event is hard capped; entry is limited and places may fill. Strollers are allowed only during the Fun Run/Walk and must start at the back. Children entered in the 5K should be able to maintain a jogging pace and keep to the right side of the course.
This is a cupless event: water cups are not provided on the course except at the food court. The mall has water fountains and restrooms along the route; participants may carry closed containers with lids. The course has two sections with small ramps and an optional set of three stairs, and waved starts will be used to provide space on the mall corridors.
Post-race activities include fitness demos, recovery stretches, and training tips. Free parking is available at the Maryland Live Casino parking garage; use the Food Court entrance for closest access. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
