Beast of the Backroads - Longview TX
Beast of the Backroads is a multi-discipline event held March 14 and 15, 2026 near Longview, Texas on a private ranch and surrounding public roads. The weekend includes road and mixed surface bike races, two road runs, and a ruck event.

- 100 mile bike with about 7000 ft elevation gain on the long loop
- 65 mile bike
- 25 mile bike
- 10 mile run
- 5 km run
- 10 mile ruck
The entire course surfaces for the bike routes are paved oil top and FM roads. The bike course passes through Longview, Hallsville, Harelton and Marshall before returning to Longview. Aid stations are placed on the bike courses (examples: 103 mile at miles 46 and 90; 65 mile at miles 23 and 53.5; 26 mile at mile 10) and on the runs (10 mile at miles 5 and 10; 5k at mile 3). Green aid stations offer food, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice. Blue stations provide water only.
Safety and equipment rules require riders to carry a communication device and wear an approved helmet. Lights and high visibility clothing are recommended. Ruck weight rules specify 30 lb for participants over 150 lb and 20 lb for those under 150 lb. Bike recommendations include road bikes with 28–32 mm tubeless tires, gravel or MTB bikes; time trial bikes are not recommended for the longer courses. The 100 mile bike offers cash prizes for the top five men and women. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
