Event overview
Beast of the Backroads is a multi-discipline event held in Longview, Texas on March 14-15, 2026. It is organized by Texas Outlaw Rides LLC and takes place on a private ranch and surrounding public roads. Distances offered include:
- 100–103 mi bike
- 65 mi bike
- 25 mi bike
- 10 mi run
- 5 km run
- 10 mi ruck
All courses start and finish at the same location.
Course and surface
Bike and run routes use paved public roads and ranch access roads. A listed bike route connects Longview, Hallsville, Harelton, Marshall and back to Longview. The longest bike loop is shown with about 7,000 feet of elevation gain.
Aid stations and required gear
Rider aid stations are listed at approximately miles 46 and 90 for the longest route, with additional stations for shorter bike distances. Runner aid stations are listed at midpoints and finishes for the 10-mile and 5k courses. Aid offerings include food, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice at full aid stations, and water-only stations at others. Riders must carry a communication device and wear an approved bike helmet. Head and tail lights and high visibility clothing are recommended. Ruck weight rules: 30 lb if over 150 lb body weight, 20 lb if under 150 lb.
Awards and participant items
The longest bike race awards cash prizes to the top five men and women. Other bike, run and ruck categories have podium awards and finisher items.
