Event Details
The Bear Country 10k & 5k are family-friendly running races held in Brevard, North Carolina. Both races start and finish at Oskar Blues Brewery. The courses utilize the Brevard greenway and offer views of the surrounding mountains.
Distances & Activities
Participants can choose from three main race options:
- Bear Country 10k
- Bear Country 5k
- Virtual 10k or 5k
A separate Kids' Cub Crawl is a ~0.25 mile run on pavement for children 12 years and under. This activity includes a race bib and a medal.
Included with 10k/5k Registration
Registration for the 10k and 5k includes a wooden finisher medal, a long-sleeve race shirt, chip timing, a donation to the non-profit partner Mountain Roots, and an Oskar Blues beer (with non-alcoholic options available). Virtual participants receive the shirt, medal, and bib by mail after the event.
Course and Logistics
Online course maps are available for both the 5k and 10k routes. The event is stroller-friendly. Dogs are welcome at the brewery but are not permitted to run with participants during the race. Service animals require prior approval.
Awards
Overall awards for the 5k and 10k are given to the top three male, female, and nonbinary finishers, as well as the top masters (40+) and grand masters (50+) runners. Age group awards (pint glasses) are given to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories. Virtual runners are not eligible for awards.
