Beale Street Murphey Mile
The Beale Street Murphey Mile is a 1 mile road race held in downtown Memphis at 200 Beale Street on July 11, 2026. The race is presented as part of the Ed Murphey Classic and the course passes notable downtown landmarks including FedExForum, historic Beale Street, and The Orpheum.
The event includes community and family elements with a designated family and kids wave and additional waves organized by running pace. After the mass participation mile, professional track and field competitions take place on Beale Street, including a pole vault competition and a World Shot Put Series event headlined by a world record holder and Olympic champion.
Pre race packet pickup is scheduled for Thursday, July 9 at Breakaway Midtown, 2109 Madison Ave, Memphis TN. Race day packet pickup and wave starts are organized on site by pace category and include separate arrangements for families and children.
Awards recognize top finishers and age group performances. Prizes are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, overall master male and female, overall grand master male and female, and the top three male and female finishers in each age group 9 and under, 10 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus.
