Be the Light 5K Run & Walk
The Be the Light 5K Run & Walk is an annual community event held at Central Catholic Junior and Senior High School in Lafayette, Indiana. Organized by the Central Catholic Bring Change to Mind Club, the event is held to support mental health awareness and suicide prevention efforts. The occasion features a primary running and walking event as well as a specialized activity for younger participants.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km run and walk
- Kids Fun Run (open to ages 10 and under)
The 5 km registration includes a bib with a timing chip for tracked results. All registered participants receive an event shirt, provided they register by the specified deadline in early April. The gathering includes on-site booths focused on mental and physical well-being. Following the completion of the course, attendees are provided with dinner by Eddie Joe's Icehouse. Special prizes are awarded to the top finishers in the 5 km category.
The event takes place at the school campus located on South 9th Street. To ensure the safety of all participants, animals are not permitted on the course. Additionally, the use of bicycles, roller blades, scooters, or skateboards is prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
