Bayou City Classic 10K and 5K Fun Run : 50th Running
The Bayou City Classic is held on March 6, 2027 at Hermann Square in downtown Houston near City Hall. The event includes both a 10K and a 5K course, each offering a wheelchair division and routes that start and finish near Hermann Square with loops through Downtown and along portions of Allen Parkway.
The 10K course is certified by the Road Running Technical Council of USATF. The event is described as family-friendly and inclusive; wheelchair and pushrim participants are welcomed and encouraged. The race also features a costume contest called the "Centipede" and a post-race party with food and beverages, including alcoholic options.
Proceeds from the Bayou City Classic are donated to the Houston Parks & Recreation Department to support park improvements and tree preservation. The event is organized by the Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA), an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
Practical notes listed by the organizer include tiered registration fees, race day registration procedures, and packet pickup details to be announced. Volunteers receive event shirts and may earn recognition within HARRA programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
