The brainstrust Bass Belle is a charity road race held in Bassingbourn, South Cambridgeshire, with a distance of 10 miles. The course is described as flat and fast and runs around local villages, comprising roughly 8.5 miles on road and 1.5 miles off road.
The event is limited to 450 entrants and is chip timed. Runners receive a race pack by post and finishers are given a bespoke medal, water, and chocolate items. There are category winner trophies and a new trophy for the highest fundraiser. Cash prizes are available for beating the current course records of 52.02 (male) and 58.23 (female). The event has been held previously and this is the twelfth edition; it has sold out in each of the last eight years.
Organised by brainstrust, all proceeds support the charity’s services for people diagnosed with a brain tumour and their loved ones. The organiser provides one-to-one support, meetups, webinars, peer support, and online information to help people manage life after diagnosis.
