About the race
The Barwon Heads Running Festival takes place on 20 June 2027 with a start/finish at Lahey Square, Barwon Heads. The event offers multiple distances:
- 21.1 km Half Marathon out-and-back along Thirteenth Beach Road
- 10 km out-and-back along Thirteenth Beach Road
- 5 km out-and-back along Thirteenth Beach Road
- 1 km Kids Race
The course is described as flat and coastal. Half Marathon and 10 km fields use self-managed wave starts to reduce congestion; wave criteria are published for expected finish times and pace. The 5 km uses a single mass start. The 1 km Kids Race runs in two waves by age, is not timed for placings, and allows parents to run alongside younger children at no extra cost. All finishers receive a commemorative finisher’s medal. Timing is recorded by an integrated chip on the race bib, which activates at the start line mat and stops at the finish mat; results are based on chip time.
Support on course includes water and 32GI sports drink approximately every 2.5 km and at the finish, public and portable toilets at the event site and along the course, roving first aid, bike parking at the event site, and a clothing bag drop in the event village. No dogs, bikes, prams, scooters, or rollerblades are permitted on course. Entry options include online, late, and on-day entries; bib pickup is available the day before and on race morning.
