Barrie Triathlon, Duathlon and Kids of Steel
The event takes place on the Barrie waterfront, hosted at Centennial Beach Park at 65 Lakeshore Dr, Barrie, ON. All races use a fully closed multi-loop bike course along the waterfront.
Facilities include a grassy transition area, a variety of parking options, and nearby locations for registration, food, awards and the finish line. Each participant receives a locally sourced custom finisher's medal and a race-specific t-shirt in a casual sport cut. Timing is provided by Sportstats. Post-event food, draw prizes and age-group awards are included. Multi-race discounts and U23 and U18 discounts are available.
The swim course is in Kempenfelt Bay; water temperatures commonly range from 18 to 22 C so wetsuits are likely optional but recommended. Bike routes run on closed roads and are described as fast and flat with wide turn-arounds, and they keep spectators close to the action. The run course follows waterfront paths toward the Southshore Centre and Military Heritage Park.
Kids of Steel swim arrangements place under 12 participants in hip or chest deep water; participants aged 12 and over swim in deeper water and must complete the full distance. Wave starts are used for Kids of Steel and other race categories, and some events use projected finishing times to create start waves. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
