Event overview
The Barr Trail Mountain Race is a summer mountain running event in Manitou Springs, Colorado. The course is 12.6 miles long. It starts at the Cog Railway Station (6,570 ft), follows Barr Trail up to Barr Camp (10,200 ft), then turns and descends to finish at the Barr Trailhead. The race is held on Pikes Peak terrain and is operated under a special use permit from Pike National Forest.
Series, rules and logistics
The race is part of the Garden to Peak Challenge, a series that includes the Garden of the Gods 10-Mile Run, the Barr Trail Mountain Race, and either the Pikes Peak Ascent or the Pikes Peak Marathon. The event is cup-less on course; participants must carry their own refillable cup or hydration reservoir. The organizers state that there are no deferrals or refunds.
