Barnyard Squatch 5K
The Barnyard Squatch 5K is an inaugural trail race held on 10/25/2026 in New Jersey and organized by Sassquad Trail Running. The event takes place on The Barnyard Sanctuary’s nearly 200-acre property and supports the sanctuary’s work with rescued farm animals. One hundred percent of donations raised through the event go directly to The Barnyard Sanctuary.
The course covers 5K with over 500 feet of elevation gain. The route is not flat and features rolling hills, dirt paths, and open pastures. The course runs directly past spacious enclosures housing rescued animals, including cows, horses, emus, peacocks, pigs, goats, sheep, and a water buffalo.
Registration for the 5K opens 8/6/2026 and closes 9/30/2026; the listed registration fee is $40.00. A separate Hardship Entry option is available with a different registration window and no fee; organizers will contact hardship registrants with a code to complete registration and to discuss a full or partial scholarship. Community members can contribute to the Squatch Community Fund as part of event fundraising. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
