Barnyard Squatch 5K : Blairstown, NJ
The Barnyard Squatch is the inaugural 5K trail event hosted at The Barnyard Sanctuary on nearly 200 acres in Blairstown, New Jersey (37 Swayze Mill Rd, 07825). The course is hilly with over 500 feet of elevation gain. Terrain includes rolling hills, dirt paths, and open pastures; the route is explicitly not flat.
Runners and hikers follow a route that passes the spacious enclosures of hundreds of rescued farm animals, including cows, horses, emus, peacocks, pigs, goats, sheep, and a water buffalo named Tundra. The event is organized as a trail race with a standard registration fee of $35 for the 5K. Registration for the 5K opens 2026-07-01 and closes 2026-09-30. A hardship entry option is available for participants who cannot afford the fee; hardship registration opens 2026-07-01 and closes 2026-10-24. When hardship registrations are received, organizers provide a code to complete registration and determine whether a full or partial scholarship is needed. Community members can contribute to the Squatch Community Fund to support scholarships and the sanctuary. One hundred percent of donations raised through the event will go directly to The Barnyard Sanctuary to support its work rescuing and caring for farm animals.
