Barn-B-Q Trail Festival
The Barn-B-Q Trail Festival takes place in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey at the restored Masker's Barn within the Deserted Village at Watchung Reservation on September 5, 2026. The event mixes outdoor trail activity with a multi-hour all-inclusive Barn party and offers several ticket options: All-Inclusive Barn-B-Q Trail Festival Ticket, Designated Dude(tte) Ticket, and Lil Farm Hand Ticket for children.
The program pairs trail tours with on-site Barn-tivities and food and drink service. Trail tours are self guided with printed maps and routes provided and available on MapMyRun. The Trail Treasure Chase sends participants to checkpoints on the trails to collect poker cards; the best poker hand earns recognition. The Barn party includes barbecue, beer, wine, seltzers, soft drinks, a souvenir, music, lawn and table games, crafts, and organized competitions.
Barn-tivities listed in the schedule include a Ringshoes tournament, Lawn Games Pentathlon, Great Puzzle Race, craft projects such as tie dye, and a range of communal games. The setting is historic: Masker's Barn was built in 1882 and restored in 2011, and the Deserted Village contains historic houses and a cemetery.
Practical information provided for participants notes trail conditions such as slippery sections, stream crossings, rocks and roots, and recommends suitable footwear, hydration, bug spray, sunscreen, and an ID for adult beverages. There is no on site medical staff; a basic first aid kit will be available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
