2026 Barefoot Half Marathon : Sterling to Shrewsbury
The Barefoot Half Marathon is a point-to-point road race of 13.1 miles held on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The course begins near the Sterling Municipal Offices and the Conant Free Public Library, travels south toward Shrewsbury, and finishes with one lap around the athletic track at Shrewsbury High School, 64 Holden Street, Shrewsbury, MA.
The route follows Route 12 South/Worcester Street for about 5.9 miles, then turns left onto Route 140 South/Maple Street and West Boylston Street for about 2.9 miles. Runners continue past views of the Wachusett Reservoir, turn right onto Route 70 South/Main Street for about 2.4 miles, then left onto Holden Street for about 0.9 miles before entering the high school and completing the track lap. All runners should follow official course markings, police instructions, volunteers, and race signage.
Running barefoot is optional; participants may use traditional running shoes, minimalist shoes, or run barefoot. Race-day parking is available at Shrewsbury High School and a complimentary shuttle will transport runners from the school to the starting area; runners who miss the shuttle are responsible for their own transportation to the start.
Saturday bib pickup is available at Shrewsbury High School to simplify race morning. Volunteers are needed for bib pickup, runner check-in, water stations, course guidance, the finish line, photography, and post-race activities.
