Bandera Endurance Trail Race
Bandera Endurance Trail Race is a January trail event held at Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera, Texas. The event offers multiple distances and runs on a main 50 km loop. The course is counterclockwise and the 100 km distance is two full laps of that loop.
Distances
- 100 km
- 50 km
- 25 km
- Youth 1 mile
Runners should expect roughly 3,300 feet of elevation gain and loss per 50 km lap, or about 6,600 feet for the 100 km. The terrain is rocky and features sotol; hills are generally short and steep with mostly technical singletrack except for a consistently flat section near YaYa Aid Station. Course markings include caution tape, yellow arrows, confidence markers, and reflective elements for night navigation.
Aid stations are staffed and offer a mix of hot and cold foods at Lodge, Equestrian, and Chapas, with regular foods available at Boyles, Nachos, and YaYa. The race is cupless; runners should plan to carry a personal cup or bottle. Drop bags may be left at aid stations and a limited delivery service is provided to specific stations for the 100 km. Chip timing uses ankle straps picked up at the venue on race morning. Pacers are allowed under specified rules for the 100 km. Completing the 100 km within 18 hours qualifies a runner to enter the Western States lottery. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
