BALS Backyard
BALS Backyard is a Last Person Standing trail event at Westminster Park in Rock Hill, SC on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The course uses a 4.167 mile loop through the park, with about 440 feet of elevation gain or loss per loop. Day and night loops follow the same route. The course passes park features such as open fields, a pavilion, restrooms, an 18 hole frisbee disc golf course, and riverside fishing areas.
The event format requires runners to complete each loop and be present in the start/finish corral when the loop start is signaled by organizers. Runners may not receive crew aid while on a loop, and any items taken from the corral must be brought back to the corral. Runners unable to complete a loop in the allotted time are recorded as DNF. The final remaining runner must complete one additional loop to be declared the winner.
Crew spaces are 12 feet by 12 feet and are assigned based on registration order. An aid station at the pavilion will offer water, Just Ingredients electrolytes, minimal organic snacks, and some homemade organic items; participants are responsible for their own fueling strategy.
The event will provide a swag bag with branded merchandise, a sticker, and an electrolyte sample. Finishers receive a small keepsake and a BALS Backyard sticker. Participants who complete eight loops reach the 50K milestone and will be pinned. Ten percent of race profits will support the new BALS Foundation, and current or veteran military participants receive a 15 percent discount under the provided code. The last person standing receives a custom handmade award from Wicked Skin Awards and the event includes a lion spirit theme reflected in swag and awards.
