Bahia Shrine 5K Camel Walk/Run
The event is a community walk/run at Northwest Recreation Complex in Apopka, FL, featuring a flat course and on-site entertainment from Bahia Shrine parade units. Participants may choose between a one mile walk/run, a 5K (3.1 miles), or a combined challenge that covers both distances. There is also a short novelty race and a virtual 5K option if the in-person event cannot proceed.

- 0.05K (164 feet)
The guest of honor is a camel named Sir Gus, Jr.; his appearance depends on weather and transportation. All 5K participants receive a shirt and a finishers medal, though the shirt was only guaranteed for registrations before March 15, 2024. Awards are presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall, plus male and female age group awards for age categories from 7 & under through 85-89.
The event is scheduled to proceed rain or shine with no backup date. If the event is canceled for unforeseen circumstances it will convert to a virtual format so registered participants can still receive event items. The organizer does not offer refunds, but registrants may contact the race director to switch to the virtual option. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
