Event Overview
The Bacon Around the Bend is an annual community event taking place in downtown South Bend. The 9th edition of this event is organized by the Family Justice Center as a way to share their mission of providing support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The course follows a route through the scenic downtown area.
This event is characterized as a family fun run and walk rather than a competitive race. It is not a timed event, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes. The route includes a specific station at the halfway point where bacon is provided to participants.
Distance and Logistics
The event features a single distance for all participants:
- 5 km run or walk
The course is stroller-friendly. Children age three and under, referred to as "bacon babies," may participate for free. Registration includes a race shirt and admission to a finish line party.
Post-Race Activities
After finishing the distance, participants are invited to a party held at Corby's Irish Pub. The celebration features various bacon-themed snacks. For participants over the age of 21, the event offers festive drinks, including a signature Bacon Bloody Mary. The finish line party is included in the registration fee for adults and children aged four and up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
