The Backside Trail Marathon and Half Marathon takes place in Cherokee and Seneca Parks in Louisville on April 26, 2026. The event offers trail running on high-quality single-track through parkland originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The full marathon follows the course twice.

The start and finish are located by the basketball courts in Seneca Park near the intersection of Cherokee Gardens and Pee Wee Reese Road. GPS coordinates for the start/finish are 38.240756, -85.674632. There is a parking lot by the softball field and vendor tents are set up on adjacent grassy areas. Packet pickup is handled through Quest Outdoors with a location given as 4600 Shelbyville Road, Shelbyville Plaza.
The course is described as gently rolling single-track; trail footwear is recommended and runners should not expect road pace. The event provides three aid stations: one at the start/finish and two on course roughly 2 to 4 miles apart. Each runner may bring one labeled drop bag; garbage bags are not allowed.
There is a strict 8 hour time limit on course. Every finisher of the marathon and half marathon receives a medal, with special designation for participants who register as Double Down to run back-to-back events on consecutive days. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
