Back2School 5K
The Back2School 5K is scheduled for August 22, 2026 at Florence Family YMCA Friendship Park, 1700 Rutherford Drive, Florence, SC. This is the ninth running of the event and it serves as a benefit for the South Florence High School Cross Country Team. Funds raised will be used to cover meet expenses and to purchase training items and gear.
The course is described as fast and flat and runs through the neighborhood adjacent to the YMCA. The event welcomes walkers, runners, strollers and pets; dogs must be on a leash or secured in a pet stroller. Participants may listen to music while running. Organizers report no known parking restrictions and plan to set cones on race day.
Awards for the 5K are based on gun time. Prizes include Overall Male and Female (one each), Masters Male and Female (one each), and age group awards with three finishers recognized in each category. Age groups are: 11 and under; 12-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 plus.
To guarantee a t-shirt, registration must be completed by August 10, 2026. Available sizes listed are Adult S, M, L, XL and Youth YS, YM, YL. Kona Ice will be onsite to provide refreshments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
