Back to School 5K & Color Run - South Glens Falls
This community event takes place at Moreau Recreation Park on Saturday, August 15, 2026. There are two distances offered and a single registration fee that includes an event shirt, race bib, and entry.
The event is untimed and open to walkers, runners, and stroller users. Powder color stations occur along the route and extra powder packs are available for purchase on race day. The powder used is cornstarch with food grade FD&C dye; it is described as non toxic and biodegradable. Volunteers aim for the chest rather than the face; people with respiratory conditions or corn allergies are advised to use their judgment and consider face covering in color zones.
Post race activities form a carnival atmosphere with bounce houses, a dunk tank, a live DJ, food trucks, lawn games, face painting, and vendors. Dogs are not allowed because of airborne powder and crowding; service animals are welcome.
Proceeds support Back To School Day, which provides backpacks, school supplies, clothing, shoes, haircuts, and dental checks for local children before the first day of school. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
