Back Roads Half & 10k is held in Red Lodge, Montana. The event offers the following distances:

Both courses run primarily on gravel with a few paved sections. Overall elevation gain is minimal, though the courses include one or two larger hills. The 10k contains a short steep hill within the first mile. The half marathon has a longer, less steep climb in its first mile. Both races finish with a steep trail downhill; stroller users proceed at their own risk.
Walkers are explicitly welcome in the 10k. Dogs are not allowed because the route passes livestock and livestock guardian dogs. Organizers mark a turn on the 10k course that returns to the start, allowing participants to finish nearer their vehicles if desired.
