Event information
The Aztec Run for Education is a 5K run and walk held at Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA on May 3, 2026. The event is hosted by the Spanish Speaking Citizens' Foundation. The course is one lap around Lake Merritt and is described as wheelchair friendly. Participant t-shirts are provided to all entrants.
Registration, fees and awards
Registration is available in person at the Spanish Speaking Citizens’ Foundation office, 1470 Fruitvale Ave., Oakland, CA 94601, Monday through Friday. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation. Virtual participants may upload verified times using the ITS Virtual Race App; results can be posted from April 19 through May 3, with final results published on race day.
Fees vary by age group and by registration date. Discounts apply for early registrations through March 31, 2026, with higher fees beginning April 1, 2026. Registering by April 19, 2026 guarantees a T-shirt size; after that date shirts are mailed based on availability and sent about two weeks after the event. Group or team discounts apply for five or more in-person registrations (10% off per registration) when a team ID promo code from On Your Mark Events is used; group discounts are not available after April 26, 2026.
Awards are given to top overall male and female and top Masters (50+) male and female, plus top three male and female finishers in multiple age divisions from 10 & under through 80 & over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
