AVDA's 27th Annual Race for Hope
AVDA's 27th Annual Race for Hope takes place on November 14, 2026 in Lake Worth, Florida. The event benefits AVDA's programs and services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. AVDA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on domestic violence support and shelter services.
Event distances include:
- 5K run/walk with in person, pet, hometown hero, and virtual options
- 100 yards Kids Dash for ages 6 and under, not timed
Registration opens May 12, 2026. Fees in the source material include a standard 5K entry, a 5K with pet option, a virtual 5K, discounted Hometown Hero 5K entries for active Palm Beach County police, firefighters, and qualifying military personnel, and a free Kids Dash. Packet pickup details are to be determined; day-of packet pickup is available. The first 500 registrants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal.
The course is USATF certified and the 5K uses net timing by AccuChip Timing, USA. All participants receive a timing tag and bib; failure to wear the tag disqualifies the participant from scoring. There is a 90-minute time limit to complete the race.
Awards are offered for overall open, masters and grandmasters, age divisions three-deep in five-year increments, Purple Party best-dressed selections, Hometown Hero top finishers by category, and fundraising achievements. Awards will be available for pick-up after the event, approximately 45 minutes after the first runner crosses the starting line. The organizer notes the event may be canceled, shortened, or converted to virtual due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
