AVDA's Race for Hope in Lake Worth, FL
AVDA's Race for Hope is a charity running event held in Lake Worth that supports AVDA's programs and services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. AVDA is one of two state-certified domestic violence shelters in Palm Beach County and the only shelter in the county focused solely on domestic violence.
Event options include on-course and virtual entries and a short children's dash. Packet pick-up is available at Runner's Edge in Boca Raton from November 7 through November 13 at noon; day-of packet pickup is also available. The first 500 registrants receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal.
- 5K in-person run and walk options.
- 5K virtual option to complete between 11/7/2026 and 11/14/2026.
- 100 yards Kids Dash for ages 6 and under, not timed.
The 5K course is USATF certified and timing for the in-person 5K uses net timing by AccuChip; participants receive a timing tag and bib and must wear the tag to be scored. There is a 90-minute time limit to complete the race. A pet-friendly 5K option is offered; pets and owners must both be registered and pet participants receive a bandana. Discounted Hometown Hero registration categories are available for active Palm Beach County police, firefighters, and eligible military personnel. Awards include overall, masters, grandmasters, age-group placements, themed Purple Party recognitions, hometown hero awards, and fundraising prizes.
