2026 Autumn Georgetown 5k & Half
The event offers two road-distance races held along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path with separate start/finish locations in Georgetown and at Fletcher’s Boathouse. Points from these races count toward the Year-Long 5k, Endurance, Back of the Pack, and Summer Series. A virtual race option is available and walkers are welcome.
Distances
- Half Marathon
- 5k
Both courses are out-and-back routes on the C&O Canal path, described as a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change. The half marathon starts and finishes in Georgetown near the Potomac Boat Club; the 5k starts and finishes at Fletcher’s Boathouse. The half has a completion time limit of 3 hours 15 minutes. A Back of the Pack series exists to allow runners with similar, slower paces to earn series points.
Participants receive a finisher’s medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before September 9; additional shirts may be available afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. Water and sport drink stations are provided: seven stations along the half at approximate mile markers 1.55, 3.8, 4.3, 6.55, 8.8, 9.3, and 11.55, and one station on the 5k near mile 1.55.
Live timing and final results are published on Athlinks and posted the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second in standard age groups; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. Packet pickup is available the day before at Road Runner Sports near Arlington. There is no on-site race registration. Banditing is prohibited and may result in removal or disqualification. Event operations may be adjusted or postponed under National Park Service weather or permit conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
