Austin Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K
The Austin Marathon is an annual running event held in downtown Austin, Texas. The event features multiple distance options for participants:
- Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K Run
The course takes runners through several of the city's unique neighborhoods and past iconic landmarks, including South Congress, Zilker Park, and the Texas State Capitol. The route is known for its rolling terrain, including some hills, and provides views of historic sites throughout the city.
The event is characterized by significant community involvement, featuring live music performances at every mile along the route and approximately 75,000 spectators. Live coverage of the race is provided by FloTrack, and the marathon serves as a qualifying event for the AbbottWMM Age Group World Championships.
Participants receive a finisher medal, and those completing the distances earn Texas-style belt buckle medals. The event concludes with a downtown finish line festival on historic Congress Avenue, which includes food, drinks, a beer garden for those 21 and older, and a concert. Aid stations are situated every few miles along the course, supported by a team of over 3,000 volunteers.
