ATW Grafman Middle Distance Triathlon
The ATW Grafman Middle Distance Triathlon is a multi-sport event held at Grafham Water near Huntingdon. This event has a history of hosting major competitions, including the Triathlon England Middle Distance Championships and the British Championships. It is open to participants of all abilities and offers several ways to compete individually or as part of a team.
Participants can choose from the following event formats:
- Middle Distance Triathlon: A 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike, and 21 km run.
- Middle Distance Triathlon Relay: A team-based version of the full triathlon distances.
- Middle Distance Aquabike: A 1.9 km swim followed by a 91 km bike leg, finishing at the transition entrance.
The swim portion takes place in Grafham Water and features an "Aussie style" exit at the halfway point. The bike leg is conducted on quiet country lanes and is designated as a draft-illegal course. The run course provides views of the Valve Tower. The event has an overall cutoff time of 9 hours and 30 minutes.
The venue at Grafham Water Visitor Centre includes facilities for spectators, such as an on-site cafe and a playground. On-site parking is available with payment machines. For those traveling from further away, accommodation options include camping at Lakeview Paddock or dormitory-style rooms at the Grafham Water Centre. All finishers receive a custom designed medal, and the course is supported by marshals, water stations, and finish line snacks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
