Stour Valley Path 100km and 50km (SVP100 and SVP50)
The Stour Valley Path events are point-to-point trail races that follow the Stour Valley Path in eastern England. The full SVP100 follows almost the entire well marked footpath from Newmarket in Suffolk toward Cattawade near Manningtree in Essex. The SVP50 follows the latter half of the route from Sudbury to Cattawade. The route passes through landscape made familiar by painters such as John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough.
- 100 km course, covering almost the full Stour Valley Path
- 50 km course, covering the latter half from Sudbury to Cattawade
Course and logistics details include a listed route distance of about 102 km (63.4 miles) for the long course, and a largely off-road surface with roughly 95% trail and 5% paved sections. Recorded elevation for the SVP100 is approximately +912 m gain and -957 m loss; for the SVP50 it is approximately +730 m gain and -760 m loss. Time limits are published for each distance. Finishers receive a medal and t-shirt, and finishers in both distances earn UTMB Index points. Male and female winners and a team prize are recognised. The races are held in August and use start locations in Newmarket (100k) and Sudbury (50k) with the finish at Brantham Leisure Centre in Brantham. The event is accessible by car, train or coach from East Anglia, London, the East Midlands and Stansted airport. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
