ATM Sunday Brunch Hike
This is a curated outdoor, self-guided hike and picnic that starts at the Afrikaans Language Monument in Paarl and follows a marked route to Krismiskamp and back. The experience emphasizes fresh air, movement and scenic views over Paarl and the surrounding Winelands. The route uses a mix of jeep track, singletrack and some technical sections shaped by the mountain terrain.
The route and practical details:
- Total distance: 9.2 km.
- Ascent to Krismiskamp: 5.8 km, approximately 290 m climb.
- Return: 3.4 km, mostly descending.
The event is self-paced and the listed duration is about 3 to 4 hours including time at the picnic area. Included with the entry are access to the monument grounds, a clearly marked route, a relaxed picnic atmosphere at Krismiskamp, a small wine tasting and light snacks, and on-site safety and event management. The format is a self-walk rather than a guided hike, and participants must remain on marked routes.
Additional notes: there is limited capacity per event, the activity takes place outdoors and can be affected by weather, and attendees are asked to respect the environment by leaving no trace.
