Event details
The Atlanta Mission 5K Race to End Homelessness is a 5K run with an in-person option at Pemberton Place Greenspace and a virtual option. The in-person course is USATF certified (GA17079WC) and serves as one of the final qualifiers for the AJC Peachtree Road Race before registration opens. The event is presented by Atlanta Mission, which operates four shelter campuses in Metro Atlanta and Northeast Georgia.
Fundraising and impact
Registration fees are stated to cover one night of shelter and services for a person who would otherwise be on the streets. The event includes a peer-to-peer fundraising challenge called Miles for Hope. Participants who raise $500 through an individual fundraising page, or who commit to monthly giving (from amounts as low as $5 per month), are eligible to receive an exclusive 5K sweatshirt. The organizer describes fundraising proceeds as supporting shelter, meals, trauma-informed mental health care, vocational training, spiritual outreach, and community-building services for people experiencing homelessness. Sponsors for the event are listed by level. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
