Athens Ohio Marathon
The Athens Ohio Marathon is a road race held in Athens, Ohio on April 19, 2026. It is the state's longest consecutively run marathon, first held in 1968 and run every year since then. The event offers both a full marathon and a half marathon.
The courses start in Uptown Athens next to the College Green of Ohio University, with the start location at the corner of South College Street and East Union Street. The route connects with the Hockhocking-Adena Bikeway for a largely flat remainder and finishes on the Ohio University track. The course follows the Hocking River valley and remains in the valley rather than climbing the surrounding foothills.
Both the marathon and half marathon courses are USATF certified and well marked. The marathon serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. Race weekend information covers parking, aid stations, spectator information, results, and awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
