About the race
Located in Athens, Ohio, the Athens Ohio Marathon bills itself as Ohio’s longest-running marathon, with a Half Marathon also offered. Since 1968, it has run continuously, making it a longstanding staple of the region. The course starts in Uptown Athens near the College Green of Ohio University and follows the scenic Hocking Adena Bikeway, staying in the Hocking River valley for a fast, flat route.
Both the full and half courses are USATF-certified and well-marked, and the marathon is a Boston Qualifier. The event features springtime scenery and a longstanding tradition, finishing on the Ohio University track. Virtual options are available.
