Athens Ohio Marathon
The Athens Ohio Marathon event comprises a full marathon and a half marathon held in Uptown Athens, Ohio, with in-person and virtual participation options. The full marathon first ran in 1968; the half marathon began in 1994.
Both in-person courses start at the corner of South College and East Union streets, adjacent to Ohio Universitys College Green on the brick streets of Athens. About 1.5 miles into each route, runners enter the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, follow it to a turnaround, and finish on Ohio Universitys track at Pruitt Field. Both courses are USATF certified; the full marathon is a Boston qualifier.
Distances:
- 42K Full Marathon
- 21K Half Marathon
Registration for in-person entries opens 1 May 2026 and closes 31 May 2026. Virtual entries open 1 May 2026 and close 31 December 2026.
