Athens Turkey Trot
The Athens Turkey Trot is an annual community running event held at West State Street Park in Athens, Ohio. The event features a 5K road race on a flat out-and-back course along the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway beside the tree-lined Hocking River. Official chip timing is used and registrants can opt to purchase a commemorative t-shirt; the last day to guarantee a shirt is November 20.
Packet pickup and pre-race registration take place at Ohio Valley Running Company (20 Station St., Athens, OH). Race-day registration and check-in are handled at the Fenway Park Shelter House (West State Street Park). Registration carries a fee of $20.00, and race-day registration is available up to 30 minutes before the race.
Prizes include pumpkin pies awarded to the top three finishers in each gender category and to the top three finishers in the ages 12 and under category. Parking is available in the main lots for the West State Ball Fields; vehicles are not permitted in the circle at the end of West State Street. Additional parking is available at Ohio Means Jobs on Union Street with a short walk along the bike path to the start area.
The event is organized by the Athens Athletics Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports Athens Bulldog cross country and track and field athletes. All proceeds support the Athens Bulldog XC and track teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
