OhioHealth Race For A Reason
The 14th Annual OhioHealth Race For A Reason is organized by the Ohio University Sports Administration. This multi-sport event takes place on the campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and serves as a fundraising initiative for various charities, non-profits, and student organizations. Over its history, the event has raised more than $650,000 for these causes.
The event features a variety of athletic competitions and community activities held over two days. Friday evening includes the Fitness Fest, held at the Walter Field House, which hosts unconventional events like a neon-themed indoor run and a competitive tricycle team race. Saturday's schedule focuses on outdoor trail and road events, including chip-timed races and a non-competitive walk.
Participants can choose from several distinct distances and event types:
- 5k Run: A chip-timed road race starting Saturday morning.
- 3K Walk: A morning walking event held on Saturday.
- Mud Run: An obstacle-based run available for both individuals and five-person teams.
- Family Fun Glow Run: A non-competitive 1-mile indoor run set to music.
- Tricycle Race: A team-based fundraiser for three participants.
- Virtual Race: An option to participate from any location.
The Family Fun Glow Run is open to all ages, with free participation for children under 15 when accompanied by a registered adult. For team-based events, such as the Tricycle Race and the Mud Run Team Event, a designated captain must handle the group registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
