OhioHealth Race For A Reason : Ohio University, Athens, OH
The OhioHealth Race For A Reason is a multi-event community fundraiser hosted by Ohio University Sports Administration. The 14th annual edition takes place April 24–25, 2026 at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Over the past 13 years the event has raised more than $650,000 for charities, non-profits, and student organizations.
The program includes a mix of timed races, community activities, and fundraising features. Event offerings include a family-focused glow run, a tricycle race that raises funds for Athens Has Heart, a chip-timed 5K run, a 3K walk, and a mud run with both individual and team options. A virtual race option is available for participants who prefer to run remotely.
Specific notes from the organizer describe team registration procedures: a team captain registers and pays the initial team fee, and additional team members are added during registration. Teams and race proceeds support local initiatives such as the Athens Has Heart Fund at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital and the OhioHealth Foundation, which help provide cardiac defibrillators to local schools and youth athletic programs.
Course maps are provided for the 5K, the 3K, and the mud run. Registration fees vary by event and registration date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
