Event Overview

The Athens Lions Club Moo Run is an annual community sports event held in Athens, Tennessee. The 2026 edition marks the 17th year of this event, which takes place on the Eureka Trail. The activities are scheduled to occur shortly before the Moo Fest festivities located in the downtown area.

Course Details

The event utilizes the Eureka Rails-to-Trails system, specifically the Eureka Trailhead at 1400 E Madison Avenue. This trail features a crushed stone surface and follows an old railroad bed, providing a consistent terrain for participants.

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 5K Run: A timed 3.1 mile race set on an out-and-back course along the Eureka Trail.
  • 1 Mile Fun Walk: A 1 mile distance held on the crushed gravel of the Eureka trail health triangle.

Participant Information

Registered participants who complete their entry by the May 21 deadline receive an event T-shirt, which must be collected on-site. Availability and specific sizes for those registering after this date are not guaranteed.

The event site provides a designated parking area located between Adient and E&E Manufacturing. Proceeds from the registration fees support local sight programs and various community services organized by the local Lions Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
