Event overview
The Athens Academy Spartan 5K and Spartan Sprint takes place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Athens Academy, 1281 Spartan Lane, Athens, GA 30606. The event program includes a 5K run/walk, a Spartan Sprint fun run for children, and a Phantom Runner option. The Spartan 5K uses RFID chip timing. The Spartan Sprint is an untimed fun run held on the school campus. Registration base fee is $25 and increases after January 16, 2026; Phantom Runner registration ends January 16, 2026.

Course, logistics and awards
The 5K course features a downhill finish and a starting line located about one mile from the packet pickup area. Packet pickup and race day registration occur in the Tilman Center, and buses transport participants to the start. Participants are encouraged to wear superhero costumes for a themed 5K; costume contest check-in is at the T-shirt table on race day.
Awards are handmade pottery by r.wood studio. Awards are given for Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, and male/female age groups in five-year increments from 10 and under through 75 and over. Finishline management and timing are provided by Classic Race Services. The event may proceed in rain; start times can be delayed and there are no refunds for inclement weather.
