Asheville Independence Day 5K
The event is a 5 km run/walk held on July 4, starting and finishing at Pack Square Park, Court Plaza in Asheville, North Carolina.
Registration includes a t-shirt and a finisher medal. The finisher medals for the 2026 event are described as reclaimed wooden medals. All participants receive a finisher medal.
Several awards are presented. Top 3 overall male, female, and non-binary finishers receive a pair of Goodr sunglasses. Additional sunglasses are awarded to the top male, female, and non-binary finishers in Masters (40+) and Grand Masters (50+) categories. Age group awards are given to the top 3 male, female, and non-binary finishers in numerous categories from 0-9 up to 85 and up.
A fundraising organization, Food Connection, is supported by the event, with $5 from each entry being donated.
Strollers are allowed on the course, but dogs are not permitted. A group discount is available for registering four or more people.
The event has a no-refund policy. A transfer option to a virtual run or to another runner is available up to 5 days before the event. In case of inclement weather, the event may be postponed to July 11. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
