The Asheville Independence Day 5k is a community road race held in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, on July 4, 2026. The course begins and ends at Pack Square Park and routes through downtown streets. The field is capped at 700 runners. The event partners with Food Connection; five dollars from each 5k entry will be donated to that nonprofit.
Race details and policies
The event offers a 5k run/walk. Strollers are permitted but must start at the back of the pack. Dogs and other animals are not allowed to run with participants; service animals are allowed with prior approval and supporting documentation. Walkers are asked to plan on finishing within one hour and 15 minutes. The organizer has a no-refund policy and may postpone the event for inclement weather to July 11, 2026, at the race director's discretion. Registrations may be transferred to another runner, a different distance, or converted to a virtual entry up to five days before the event.
Registration, packet pick-up and awards
Registration includes a finisher medal, a short-sleeved technical race t-shirt, a custom race bib, professional chip timing, and post-race snacks. Early packet pick-up is scheduled on the day before the race at The Mule location; race-day packet pick-up is at Pack Square. Awards include finisher medals for all participants, top overall and age-group awards across male, female, and non-binary categories, plus masters and grand masters prizes.
