The Asheville Independence Day 5k takes place on July 4, 2026, in Pack Square Park, Court Plaza, Asheville, NC. The event is a 5k run/walk. Strollers are allowed; dogs are not permitted. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Wicked Weed Funkatorium and on race morning in Pack Square. The event supports Food Connection; five dollars from each race entry will be donated.

Registration includes a T-shirt and a finisher medal. Pricing tiers listed by the organizer include $44.79 (current), $55.49 (early), and $66.18 (later), with additional seasonal price changes noted. All finishers receive a medal; the 2026 finisher medals are described as reclaimed wooden medals. Awards include a pair of sunglasses and gift certificate for top overall finishers, top three Male/Female/Non-Binary, top Masters (40+), top Grand Masters (50+), plus age-group awards for top three Male/Female/Non-Binary in age divisions from 0-9 up through 85+.
The event has a no-refund policy and does not allow deferrals. Transfers to a virtual entry, to another runner, or to a different distance are permitted up to five days before the event; after that runners must contact the organizer for help. In case of inclement weather the event may be postponed to July 11, 2026; cancellations due to broader emergencies will not result in refunds.
