Asheville Independence Day 5K
The Asheville Independence Day 5K is a community road race held on July 4 in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. The course begins and ends at Pack Square and runs through the streets of downtown Asheville.
The event is organized as a family friendly community gathering and partners with Food Connection; five dollars from each 5K entry is donated to that nonprofit. Registration is limited to 600 runners. There are two registration discounts: 15% off for groups of four or more who register together and 15% off for children 12 and under.
Strollers are welcome but must start at the back of the field. Walkers may participate but are asked to plan on finishing within one hour and fifteen minutes. Pets and other animals are not allowed to run with participants; service animals are permitted only with prior approval and supporting documentation. Running with an animal will result in disqualification from award categories and timing results.
Packet pick up is offered the day before at The Mule with on site music and food service, and race day packet pick up is available at Pack Square. Race entries include a finisher medal, a short sleeved technical race t shirt, a custom race bib, professional chip timing, and post race snacks.
