Asheville Half Marathon & 10K/5K
The Asheville Half Marathon and associated races take place on August 29, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina. The event features multiple distance options with courses that start and finish at Pack Square. The half marathon is capped at 2,500 participants and follows a hilly route through various city districts.
The courses traverse several landmark areas, including the Brewery District and the Arts District. Runners follow the French Broad River north toward Beaver Lake, passing the Grove Park Country Club, Weaver Park, and the UNCA campus. The route returns to the downtown area via Broadway Street. Participants should be prepared for significant elevation changes, as both the start and finish sections are set on inclines.
Available distances include:
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course with a 3-hour time limit.
- 10K: A 10 km race with a 1 hour and 45 minute time limit.
- 5K: A 5 km road race.
- Virtual Options: Virtual versions of the half marathon, 10K, and 5K are available for those unable to attend in person.
Registered participants receive a technical running shirt and a finisher medal. Custom bibs are provided to those who register before August 1st. The event includes a post-race festival at Pack Square Park featuring live music, vendors, and refreshments. Water stations and portable toilets are positioned approximately every two miles along the course. For safety reasons, dogs and strollers are not permitted on the race course.
