Arnold Mills Road Race
The Arnold Mills Road Race is an annual Fourth of July running event in Cumberland, Rhode Island, centered on a 4 miles road course. The race is run on a moderately challenging rural route and is held in conjunction with the town parade.
Historically the event has drawn more than 600 participants; organizers expect between 800 and 1,000 runners for the current year. Packet pickup is available the day before at The Lodge at Diamond Hill and on race day at the Cumberland Fire Department. Online registration closes on July 3 and on-site registration will also be available.
Registration uses tiered pricing by age group. Youth (18 and younger): $25 through May 31, $30 through July 3, $35 on race day. Adults (19 and older): $30 through May 31, $35 through July 3, $40 on race day.
Parking is provided behind Community School at 15 Arnold Mills Road and on nearby Quaker Road and Sun Valley Drive; additional parking is available at the Bentley Field complex on 3569 Diamond Hill Road, about a mile from the start. Recent work on Newell Bridge may make the pedestrian route from Bentley Field difficult for those pulling wagons, pushing strollers, using wheelchairs, or riding bicycles; participants choosing that lot should allow extra time and use caution when traveling to and from the race area.
Location: 50 Arnold Mills Drive, Cumberland, RI. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
