About the race
The Arkema event in Chatham, Virginia supports local fundraising for the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, the Chatham Rescue Squad, and qualified local charities, schools, and school organizations serving Chatham and Pittsylvania County. The event offers both a timed 5K competition and a separate One Mile Fun Run for families.

The primary 5K course includes elevation changes, flat open areas, and no switchbacks. A cash bounty of $250 is available for breaking each of the male and female course records; those records are over a decade old. The 5K run awards the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups and includes team competition with first place team awards for qualifying teams. Teams must have at least five finishing members to qualify; team categories are male, female, and mixed.
The One Mile Fun Run is open to all ages but awards are limited to participants aged 12 and under. Medals are given to the top three boys and girls 12 and under, and ribbons are provided to all finishers in that age group. One escort may accompany a child for free. The fun run is a separate course and features moderate elevation changes with no switchbacks.
Registration is available online, via a paper form, or on race morning. T shirts are not guaranteed for same day registrants.
