The Area 51 Trail Race is the third annual running event held at the Area 51 mountain bike trails in Hernando, Mississippi, at 8900 US-highway 51. The event offers multiple trail distances.

The course is entirely single-track and runs through hills and wooded areas of north Mississippi. The route has close to 100 feet of elevation gain per mile, and organizers note that measured distances are approximate.
Packet pickup is planned a day or two before the event and again at the start area on race morning. Parking near the trailhead is limited; organizers recommend carpooling when practical. Organizers plan a water station on the shorter route and an aid station on the longer route; additional details will be provided closer to the event.
The event is organized as a not for profit. Net proceeds support the North Mississippi Trail Alliance, an organization that has built and maintained the local trail system over the last five years.
