Arbuckle AnkleBiter - Frostproof, FL
Arbuckle AnkleBiter is a trail event held at the Arbuckle Tract of Lake Wales Ridge State Forest in Frostproof, Florida. The 2026 edition offers two distance options and notes discounts for 2024 participants plus free entry for prior 100k finishers. The organizer lists primitive on-site camping and a nearby Polk County campground with showers, power, and water about three miles from the start area.
Distances
- 100k: five 20k loops
- 20k: single 20k loop
The course follows mixed surfaces. Runners will encounter packed single-track sand, occasional soft sand, stretches of grass trail with uneven terrain, short sections of clay and limestone road, and a roughly 1.5 mile cypress section along Lake Arbuckle with narrow trail, roots, and bridges that require careful footing. The course is described as well marked with flags on the right and aid stations spaced roughly every 4 to 5 miles. The start and finish area serves as a runners camp for crewing and canopies.
Food and aid offerings include grills serving breakfast items and hot lunches, and aid stations stocked with DrinkLMNT mix, water only, a fuel mix to be determined, ice, snacks, bananas, oranges, pickles, protein bars, salt pills, Sports Legs, and GU gels. Swag from 2024 such as hats, pint glasses, and finish medals will be available at reduced prices. New socks are free for 100k entrants and offered as an add on purchase for 20k entries. Registration closes Fri, Feb 27 at 11:59PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
