Course and logistics
The routes use Soldiers Trail and Highlands Trail, running through ponderosa pines above 7,000 ft and topping out on a mesa with broad mountain views before returning to forested sections. Trails vary from narrow single track to wider, maintained forest paths. The 27K is a two-loop course, the 13K is one loop, and the 6K uses a shortened Soldiers Trail loop.
Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink (Gnarly Fuel-2O), sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. For the 27K and 13K, aid stations occur approximately every 4.0 to 4.4 miles; runners are advised to plan to carry at least one bottle of water. Crews are allowed only at the start/finish area. Pacers are not permitted. Drop bags are allowed at the start/finish and are available on each loop.
On-site tent-only group camping permits are available in limited numbers. Awards include unique finisher medals for all finishers and artwork awards for the top three male and female finishers in each race. Live split tracking will be available.
