Ararat River Run 5K/10K
The Ararat River Run is a road and greenway event in Mount Airy that offers a 5K and a 10K course along the Granite City Greenway beside the Ararat River. A separate Fun Run is available for children 12 and under.

Registration has early and standard pricing tiers. For the 5K early registration through July 4 is $35 and standard registration July 5 through August 9 is $40. For the 10K early registration through July 4 is $40 and standard registration July 5 through August 9 is $45. The Fun Run is free for kids 12 and under without a shirt, or $10 with a shirt purchase. Prior to July 23 participants may submit a paper registration form at Reeves Community Center, 113 S. Renfro Street, Mount Airy, NC.
Finishers receive a medal. Overall top male and female in each race receive $250. Age-division awards and overall places are given for the 5K and 10K; age groups include 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. A Corporate Participation Challenge awards a team trophy to the organization with the most participants. The 5K Team Fitness Challenge awards prizes by average time of the top five team members.
The 5K and 10K use a gun start and chip-timed finish with timing services by Go! Sports Timing and Events. The Fun Run is timed by a finish clock but individual times are not recorded. Early packet pickup is scheduled the day before at the United Fund office; race day packet pickup is at the Granite City Greenway trailhead behind Big Lots. Recovery food, fruit, and water are provided at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
