Event details
The Ararat River Run in Mount Airy, NC offers a 5K, a 10K, and a kids Fun Run for ages 12 and under. The road and trail course runs along the Granite City Greenway by the Ararat River, with the trailhead located behind Big Lots. The event includes chip timing provided by Go! Sports Timing and Events and a gun start for the 5K and 10K; the Fun Run is clocked at the finish but individual times are not recorded. Finishers receive a medal. Recovery food, fruit, and water are available at the finish area.
Entry, logistics and awards
Registration options include individual and team entries and a Corporate Participation Challenge for the organization with the highest number of participants. Fee structure listed for the 5K and 10K includes lower early-registration rates and higher standard rates closer to the event. Paper registration is available prior to July 23 at Reeves Community Center, 113 S. Renfro Street, Mount Airy. Runners registered by July 28 are assured an event shirt and goodie bag.
Prizes include $250 for the overall top male and female in each race. Individual awards are given for overall 1st-3rd male and female and for top 3 male and female in age divisions (13 and under; 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+), based on gun time. The 5K Team Fitness Challenge awards prizes based on the average time of the top five team members. Fun Run participants receive a participation ribbon; a race shirt option is available for a fee.
