Catamount Climb Half Marathon & 5K
The Catamount Climb Half Marathon and 5K takes place on the Western Carolina University campus in Cullowhee, NC, along the banks of the Tuckasegee River. The event is hosted by the WCU Department of Campus Recreation and the School of Health Sciences, with all proceeds supporting student professional development and academic scholarships.
Distances offered:
- 5K : course entirely on campus with moderate elevation change
- Half Marathon : starts on campus, goes off campus for several miles, then returns to campus for the finish
Registered participants receive a race packet that includes a race t-shirt, a race bib, and sponsor coupons or materials. Packet pick up is available the day before the race at the WCU Campus Recreation Center and the morning of the race at the same location. Finisher medals are awarded to all half marathon finishers.
Awards are presented in overall and master's categories for male and female winners, plus age-group awards. Half marathon age groups are 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. 5K age groups are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
