Catamount Climb Half Marathon and 5K
The Catamount Climb Half Marathon and 5K is held on the Western Carolina University campus in Cullowhee, NC, along the banks of the Tuckasegee River. The event is hosted by the WCU School of Health Sciences and the Department of Campus Recreation & Wellness. All race proceeds support student professional development and academic scholarships.

The 5K course is entirely on campus and navigates through the heart of campus with moderate elevation change. The half marathon starts on campus, travels off campus for several miles, and returns to campus for the finish.
Each registered participant receives a race packet that includes a race t-shirt, a race bib, and various coupons and sponsor materials. Finisher medals are given to all half-marathon finishers.
Awards for the half marathon include custom placing medals for overall male and female winners, overall masters male and female winners, and the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
5K awards include custom medals for overall male and female winners, overall masters male and female winners, and the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
