Walpole Labor Day Road Race
The 53rd annual Walpole Labor Day Road Race is a community fundraiser held at Walpole High School in Walpole, MA. The event supports Walpole High School cross country and track and field programs and benefits more than 200 athletes across six seasons.
The event offers multiple race options:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 mile youth run
Registration opens May 1. Entry fee tiers are listed as $40 before September 5 and $45 from September 5 to 7. Ages 13 and younger and those 65 and older have a $25 entry fee. The youth mile fun run fee is $25. Participants who register by August 1 receive the official road race T-shirt; all participants receive a finisher's medal. Race T-shirts are also available for sale for $20.
The 5K and 10K courses are described as matching established USATF certified routes (certification numbers MA18015JK and MA18016JK), but due to driveway construction at Walpole High School the course cannot be officially certified this year; the route is reported to be virtually identical with only an approximate change to the finish line placement.
A virtual edition is offered and participants may switch between virtual and in-person entries without fee. Strollers are permitted in the 5K when positioned at the back of the starting area. For safety, dogs are not allowed on the course during the races.
