Annagh Hill Mountain Race

The Annagh Hill mountain race takes place in County Wexford, featuring a new route that traverses difficult terrain. The event offers two distinct course options to accommodate different levels of mountain runners:

  • 10.70 km (550 m total climb)
  • 4.80 km (Short Course/Juniors, 190 m ascent)

The long course is noted for its tough terrain and is not recommended for participants who are new to mountain running. Trail shoes with high grip are essential for all participants. The course marking is limited to major junctions, and on the return section along the ridge, the race follows the "yellow belly loop" way-marked trail, which is identified by purple arrows.

Safety requirements are strictly enforced through a mandatory Level B kit list. All participants must bring a waterproof jacket, a hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number saved, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Race officials determine the final kit requirements on the morning of the event based on weather conditions.

The race center is located at The Gap Pub in Annaghgap, where parking is available. Priority parking is given to vehicles with multiple occupants to encourage carpooling. Following the race, post-event refreshments including pizza and sandwiches are served at the pub.

Registration is limited to 250 participants and must be completed online in advance, as no cash entries are accepted on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
