Drew's Angel Creek 50
Drew's Angel Creek 50 is a point to point trail running event near Fairbanks, Alaska, offering 50 mile and 50K distances. The 50 mile starts at Twin Bears Camp (Mile 30 Chena Hot Springs Rd) and finishes at Chena Hot Springs Resort (Mile 56.5 Chena Hot Springs Rd). The 50K starts at the Angel Rocks Trailhead parking lot, follows part of the same route as the 50 mile, and finishes at Chena Hot Springs Resort.
The courses are a roughly 50/50 mix of hard packed trail with good footing and more technical sections, mostly along ridge lines. Road access is available only at the start locations, the finish, and the Angel Rocks Trailhead. Elevation figures are provided for each course: the 50 mile has about 12,600 ft gain and 12,000 ft loss, while the 50K has about 6,400 ft gain and 6,200 ft loss. The race finish at Chena Hot Springs Resort is at approximately 1,300 ft elevation.
Logistics notes include drop bag provisions and a shuttle. Drop bags are available for the 50 mile at checkpoints around miles 30 and 42 and at the finish. Drop bags for the 50K can be left at the start, which also serves as the 37K / 23 mile checkpoint. A shuttle transports runners from Chena Hot Springs Resort to the starts. Registration closes Thu, Jul 30 at 11:59 AM AK. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
