Event Details
This is the 48th annual running of the event. It was formerly known as the White River 4 Mile Classic and HealthSouth 4 Mile Classic. The race is named in memory of Andy Buschmann, a local runner who participated in every edition from its founding in 1978 until his passing in 2021.
The course is USATF certified and covers a distance of 4 miles. It starts and finishes on Main Street in Batesville, with parking and setup near City Hall. The route goes downhill through Batesville's historic residential and downtown districts and features a couple of substantial climbs through nearby neighborhoods in the middle of the race.
Registration & Logistics
The registration fee is $35. All runners and walkers receive a race shirt. Race-day registration is available from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM. Packet pickup is available early on Friday evening in the parking lot at 500 E Main Street (Batesville Municipal Building) and on race day at the same location starting at 6:30 AM.
Chip timing is provided by OK Timing Plus. Ample parking is available at City Hall and in parking lots throughout the Main Street area.
Awards & Charitable Impact
All finishers receive a commemorative race goodie. Awards are given to the top three males and females overall, in the masters category (40+), and in numerous age groups from 0-9 up to 80+. Proceeds from the race are donated to local charities serving Independence County.
In the event of cancellation, all entries are deferred to the 2027 race; no refunds are given. The event is planned to proceed rain or shine, but may be delayed, canceled, or have the course altered in cases of adverse weather like tornado warnings, thunderstorms, or heavy rain.
