Experience Independence / Difani Memorial 5K
The event on July 11 in Batesville includes a timed 5K running race and an untimed 5K memorial walk that allows participation without a bib or RFID tag. Entry fee for entrants is $30. There is also a donation-only option for non-participants to support a memorial scholarship fund.

This year's course starts and finishes at Eagle Mountain Elementary, 600 Eagle Mountain Blvd, Batesville, AR 72501, because Riverside Park is under construction. Packet pickup is planned at the school on Friday, July 10, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and race day registration will be available at the school from 6:00 to 6:45 a.m.
Registered entrants as of June 26 will receive a special T-shirt; additional shirts will be available afterward on a first come, first served basis until supply runs out. Awards will be given to the Top 3 Overall Men and Top 3 Overall Women, and medals will be awarded in 10-year age groups for the top three in each group. Centennial Bank is the presenting sponsor and manager of the scholarship fund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
