Andrew Heywood Memorial - Windgather

The event is an approximate half marathon of 21.5 km / 13.5 miles with about 760 m of ascent and descent. The route is almost entirely off road and runs around the tracks and trails of the Goyt Valley, including an ascent to Shining Tor. The listed location is Burbage Institute in Buxton.

The course is marked at junctions, but navigation is the responsibility of each runner. Free maps are available online or at race headquarters. Two water points are provided on route and hot food and drinks are available at the finish.

Full Fell Runners Association kit must be carried. Required items include a waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and an integrated attached hood, hat and gloves, a map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food. A water bottle or similar and some basic first aid kit are strongly recommended. Footwear with good grip is required as sections can be muddy.

The event is held as a charity fundraiser with proceeds to Buxton Rotary. Entry requirements include a minimum age of 18. The normal entry fee is £14 and on day entry is £16 if available. The race commemorates its 20th anniversary with a memento for pre-entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
