Event overview
The American Hero 25K Relay & Half Marathon is scheduled for May 24, 2026, at Comanche Park and the Salado Creek Greenway in San Antonio, Texas. The event includes in-person and virtual options and describes the course as fast and flat. Packet pickup is mandatory and takes place in advance at a local store on Broadway.
Events and format
The event program includes:
- American Hero Half Marathon (13.1 miles, out-and-back, four loops)
- 25k Relay Team (five-person teams, looped 5k course)
- 5K Hero Race
- Kids Fun Run (400 m for 12 & under)
- Wheelchair 5K
- 10K Hero Ruck (ruck sack 25–50 lb, ages 18+)
- Virtual Half Marathon
- Virtual 5K
Relay teams must consist of five members; each team member may run only one leg and may not compete in more than one event. Age-group divisions and awards are defined for the half marathon and 5K in ten-year increments; the relay includes multiple category divisions (for example open, masters, military, fire/law enforcement, family).
Logistics and awards
Registration is online only; there is no race-day registration. All participants receive medals. Escorts for blind or disabled contestants are covered by the contestant’s entry fee and receive the same shirt and medal.
